- It might be true. But how do you know that you're one of these
- insignificant number of people? Can we say that if you're having
- an overrun problem that you're one of these people? If that's true
- I'd say the number is not that insignificant, judging from the number
- of posts about overrun on PC comm newsgroups.
-
- In my case putting in one of these $59 ESP single boards totally fixed
- my overrun problem. No single "communication error (OVERRUN)" message
- from Winsock! Before I used the ESP I got a lot of overrun errors each
- time I ran Netscape. My computer always had a 16550 chip on the serial
- card so that wasn't the problem.
-
- Granted, the problem might have come from some other sources. It might
- be the 16550-like chip on my DTC2278EB board or even the 2278 board
- itself, it might be my Adaptec 1542CF scsi card, it might be my S3 video
- card but the fact is putting in the ESP card solved my problem.
-
- Of course, YMMV! In no way I'm saying that everybody's overrun problem
- can be solved by buying a Hayes ESP board :-)
